Last week we discussed the Tooele County 4-H Achievement Score Card-
If the girls will meet these requirements they will earn 4H dollars that can be applied to 4H activities put on by the County 4H or the State 4H offices. Last year we had a few of the girls meet the requirements for the Gold award and they chose to use that money to cover most of the expenses to attend the JYC camp for 5th and 6th grade 4Hers. There are also activities year round that the extension put on that they can do.
To earn the Gold Award they must participate in a county contest (the Fashion Revue and the Table Setting Contest---- for the County Fair, are 2 available to them to meet this requirement) They must also have a portfolio to turn in the first week of October. That means that on August 1st they will be able to do the Fashion Revue and/or have their Table Setting ready to display on that day. It also means they need to start working on their portfolios NOW! So they can meet these requirements.
http://extension.usu.edu/tooele/htm/4-h/ (look under resources to download your own copy of the score card) You can also have a PDF version of the County Fair booklet from: http://www.tooelefair.com/TCFairBook2011.pdf . The Portfolio information can be found at: http://www.utah4-h.org/htm/general-forms/portfolios . ALL the girls who FINISHED 3rd grade (AND OLDER) last year can participate. Otherwise they are considered a Clover-Bud and will have to wait another year before they can earn 4H dollars and use the score card.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
